Caffeinated beverages (tea, coffee, energy drinks) are absolutely useless for productivity or energy if you drink them regularly. You will get into the caffeine cycle about 3-7 days after drinking coffee every day. That means you get slightly dependent, and you really just need the same amount of coffee just to feel normal.

Coffee (for energy, not talking about if you enjoy the drink itself, which I do) is best as an emergency pick-me-up. For rare occasions where you need to work late hours, or drive home early morning/late at night and need to be alert.

Coffee will also interfere with your sleep patterns if you have it several hours before you need to sleep, especially if you haven't built up a tolerance to the caffeine.

If you like coffee both for the energy and the taste/enjoyment of drinking it, do what I do and alternate weeks drinking it. Otherwise you build up tolerance and may get withdrawal symptoms when you don't have your daily fix.

Blah, just need more sleep. I need more sleep. I want some right now... zzz...
yep

I had trouble falling asleep last night. I'm tired as shit.
I also had no vitamin B or coffee yesterday, I was surprised how much trouble I had falling asleep, even though I had been drowsy tired as fuck all day.

Proper diet & exercise helps a lot. Any time I get junk food in my system, the lack of energy is highly noticeable.

You should take proper rest daily..but If u feel tired after proper rest than u should go for a cup of coffee but in a gap of 2-3 days in this way it will not add much cost & you will able to do qualitative work at the same time.

Well there are thought to be numerous health benefits to drinking coffee, so it isn't really a bad thing. But it's overrated for energy/alertness. Personally caffeine does nothing for me. I can drink a 20 oz mug and drop in bed an hour later.

If I wasn't a lazy sack of shit and could keep up with it, I found an apple mid day did far more to wake me up than a coffee.

It's also healthier and cheaper.

This is true. Studies have shown that the pectin in an apple gives you more energy than the caffeine in coffee.

The problem with caffeinated drinks (including the Energy stuff) is your body gets used to having it and throttles back. So you 'need' more.

This is also true, not just anecdotallly but backed up by research. Once you hit a certain point, caffeine no longer increases your energy to higher-than-normal levels, but caffeine brings you back to the normal level of energy that you already have.

In other words, if you aren't already taking in caffeine to stay awake, then avoid it like the plague as part of a daily routine. It works well to use infrequently (i.e. study for finals, road trips, etc.), but for daily use, your body will just get used to it so that there is not positive impact from caffeine.

If we're just talking about whether it's healthy, several studies show that drinking 3-5 cups of coffee per day has several positive health effects. But increasing your daily energy level isn't one of them.

OP

a) make sure you get at least 9 hours of sleep
b) make sure you eat healthy (crappy food will make you feel like....crap)
c) make sure your portions are proper (too much will make you sleepy)
d) do physical activities

If you follow those steps, it will take few weeks before you stop feeling the way you do.

It's all about consistency.

As for Coffee, it's your call. In general it will give you a little boost for 15-20 min then you will feel more tired than you felt before you had some.

But in general Coffee isn't bad for you.

not true...coffee + five hour energy works just fine.

WOW

Now I see why these companies still exist
