Just in case you need Office Suite free, go grab StarOffice 5.2 now while it is still free.
on download page, choose US Central download site. I got 270 - 300 Kb/sec there.
The Suite is 66.7MB for windows, 93MB for Linux.
they even have 10 part download for those on dial up.

get it here

Or then again you could download OpenOffice 6.0 here: OpenOffice

Somewhat different feature set (no "desktop", clip art, or mail client <cough>use mozilla<cough> ), but the word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation apps are much improved over 5.2.

Thanks for letting us know 5.2 is being cut off.

EDIT: Errr.. I guess it's OpenOffice 1.0 not 6.0 -- whatever, it's the equivalent of StarOffice 6.0. Perhaps they should have just gone 90's-Microsoft and called them bot '02. Nah...

Yeah, StarOffice 6.0 is ready and it will cost you. Not as much as MS Office at least.
But can't beat free.

Oh No!

I still have Star Office 5.1 & M$ Office 97.

PC Suite 602 is a smaller download, but not as complete, no thesaurus or database included in the free version.

Open office is also free.

Man-O-Man, some kind of gorilla server they've got up over there. I dl'd the Win version at over 400K/s, was up over 450 for awhile. Highest sustained thruput I've ever seen on my Sprint BBD wireless connection here in Phoenix. Not greedy or anything, but get while the gettin' is good right? Dl'd the other three versions simultaneously, Sparc, Linux, and Sol/intel. They ran at 310, 280 and 140 repectively, that's 730K/s, 5.8Mb/s! This is flat kicking butt on a home connection. I don't believe I've ever seen anything like that before. Jeez.... w2K/Netscape 4.77 on a 1.0 Athlon266 @ 1.1, 512MB. I am totally impressed by this, dl'd 371MB in a few minutes. Rock on, Sun.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this up. If I hadn't seen the post, I would have surely forgotten about tonight's deadline and missed getting the free software. Downloading it now...and I agree...this is downloading FAST!

I'm on dialup & don't know if I'll be able to finish in time.

Can I impose on someone to burn me a CD?

Please PM me, Thanks!

Thanks all the responses. This is a really friendly place!
