I've heard so many rumors about this game getting canceled and delayed and just perhaps, it will be out this September? I hope so 🙂. It looks pretty sweet, check out the videos 😀.

what kinda game is this? it looks very scripted so it can't be a MMORPG, yet it seems to cover so much that it can't be a singleplayer game...

A cancelled game.
 
Looks like a single person adventure with a balance of puzzle solving and fighting. The scenes seem cover the first eight seasons so it looks like a linear path must be followed. It will be nice to play it from the beginning. An online ground combat mode would be a nice addition too.
