Stargate SG1- Where did they get that Iris from?

Why do they have an iris around their stargate, and no other planet has one? where/how did they get it?

They find it in the ocean? (I think) Also Russia HAD one but i think they destroyed it.

They built it to keep any bad peeps from coming through.

I don't particularly recall how they got it but they put it there themselves to protect against unwanted visitors. If i recall correctly they had two versions of the iris, the original and the current one (stronger).

If I remember correctly they made it. Its pure Titanium.

Exactly, it was done after the movie (in their timeline) and was described to O'Neal when he was brought back to SGC in the 2-hour pilot for the series. It's on DVD now so you could rent it and see, but those first few episodes were pretty weak IMHO. It's gotten much better as they've built up the whole new mythology of other "gods" and added new races like the Aesir and Tokra.
