I'm on the 10th season, what I don't get is, how come the Ori use such shitty ground forces? Anubis had his kull warriors or whatever that had mad shields and firepower, while these guys are pure peons.

What is the logic behind this? I must know!

The ori are NOT go'auld.

The ori are ascended beings from another galaxy.
Their 'warriors' are their followers.

Think of the ori as jesus, the doci is the pope, the priors are the bishops and priests, and their warriors are common, everyday christians. Their mission is to spread the word of Origin.

Anubis was a go'auld who ascended, and then was kicked out... and he's pissed, and a go'auld... of course his warriors were gonna be badass.

Also why not just make everyone cloaked for added fun? Obviously the Ori can do both of these things as they are the most advanced. And where is the fat Asgard fleet to do some damage to their ships? Are the Asgard really that far behind technologically? What about the Nox, are they still peaceful people even though their galaxies existence is at stake?

Hmm...

Yes I know who the Ori are and what they are all about...but one would think the ground forces they use would be more advanced...

Why? In their galaxy, they had no 'resistance' prior to Daniel & Vala appearing. There really wasn't a need for ground forces. hell.. they didn't even have warships.

Their followers had to build the warships.

They weren't warriors.. they were farmers prior to being drafted into the Ori army.

Hmm...

The Asgard were busy with the destruction the replicators caused / their clone degrading issues / new homeworld.

Later on you will see what their weapons can do against the Ori but the early on fights were against their old version ships.

This is true, all very good points, but given their super advanced ships one would think their ground stuff might of been a little bit better :)

Plus the Ori grow stronger with more believers. You would think they would want to perserve their army of believers.

Sweet I can't wait. I am also guessing I will never see this furling race? What ever happened to the Talon? Or those other advanced races, the ones that wanted to colonize the earth through hindering reproduction, or the other race of people that had the spaceship race.

The Ori don't care about their followers. They only want to covert more people to Origin, hence their invasion of our galaxy... a whole galaxy of people to convert to Origin.

so what if they lose a few thousand poorly trained farmers... they've got TRILLIONS of people to convert to origin.

Besides.. they never really engage in a 'ground war' ... just ship battles. So .. who needs superior ground forces, when ya got some badass ships. Even the Asguard shields barely hold off the Ori beam weapons

Don't forget that the Asgard race was dying itself, and they had to give their entire knowledge-base to Sam or O'Neill.

Ori were pretty advanced. Their ships were more or less indestructable without a huge event horizon effing it up, or the crew being wiped out. They had more than enough pawns, and the priors themselves managed to wipe out entire worlds single-handedly.

I think the only time you see the new and improved asgard weapons is the last episode but you will see the beam weapons a lot more on Atlantis.

You never do see the furling races other then the one tv spoof and the Tolan got wiped out in a attack by I think it was Anubis or at least you never see them again after that episode.

The reproduction race is never seen after the members of SG-1 find out who they are and block them since they did not ever have the knowledge of how to find new planets with the stargate other then the few they found that were the closest to them.

Just finished watching SG-1, the last episode of season 10.

It was absolutely ridiculous.

1. Why did the Asgard just beam away and kill themselves, why not stick around and fight the Ori with the remainder of their ships? Clearly they didn't have to die right away and could of replicated more ships to smash them.

2. What happened to the Ori later on? There were still a bunch of Ori ships left.

3. The whole time dilation thing was dumb, story wasn't wrapped up.

Bah the frustration!!!

I assumed it was so the Ori could not capture them and use their technology, which would have happened if they would have fought.

The Ori arc ended in a movie after the end of the series called the Ark of Truth.
Spoiler,

the got brainwashed into being good guys.

Yes, if you were expecting an end to the Ori arc the time dilation show was meh. However, it was some kind of attempt, to show the characters more or less outside the roles they played, by basically setting them up in a their own community.

Bah the frustration!!!

Yep. Imagine having to wait months to see how the Ori story ends.
Oh, wait. You can just go rent the dvd.....

I thought the Time Dillation was rather interesting. You basically got to watch everyone Die or come close to dying.

I still say the last episode of season 10 was the worst stargate episode ever. I suppose that should be pronounced Worst. Stargate. Episode. Ever! ..Anyways, the first few minutes were almost comical in that they wiped out a whole civilization without warning..it was just BAM.

Hell, for that matter, why didn't the Asgard attract all of the Ori ships and then pump out a huge time dilation field like they did with the replicators? Would have at least bought everyone else some time.

You need to watch the SG-1 movies to see the actual end of the series.

For those complaining, you can't take Stargate too seriously, it's not Babylon 5. I always found it to be a fun series though.

I'm still thinking about SG-1 and how it ended. Every morning I wake up and shake my head at how such a good series with so much potential ended in the most retarded way EVAR!!! Like OMG!

Seriously the Asgard could of at least fought a little bit and still mass suicided themselves. And where the hell were the Nox and the Talon? I am going to start watching Stargate Atlantis soon, hopefully that is a little better?

As far as the ending goes, you have to remember it was called Unending. The movie was already given the green light.

The Asgard also had a weird stance on intervening throughout the series.

I don't consider the last epi to be the series finale. The movie was the finale.
The Nox? Aside from a couple of quickie re-appearances they had pretty much retired to their invisible flying city for the last half of the run.
The Tollan, wel, they just got their asses kicked by the Gouald and were never heard from again.
The Aschen also disappeared to their quiet life of humourless scientific advancement. Though, now that they know life exists elsewhere I wonder why they haven't built hyper space capable ships.

Don't forget the 2 SG1 movies. I just watched the series too, and took a break before coming back to watch the movies.

As far as Atlantis, watching Atlantis is what made me decide to give SG1 a chance. I ended up linking both of them almost equally. I liked Atlantis just a little better.
