The tv series actually did five alternate reality type reboots.
The movie Stargate:Continuum.
The episode (Moebius) where they go back in time to ancient Egypt and screw up the timeline and there was no Stargate Command and an alternative Jackson and Carter were recruited to go on a mission that would eventually return things almost completely to what originally happened.
The two quantum mirror episodes where Earths with similar history, but with some changes, were shown.
The episode where Carter was working on a planet wide stealth device but ended up in an alternate reality where General Landry was President.
I agree that the series ran its course. But just about everything people love about Stargate comes from the TV show, not the movie. The movie was a somewhat generic sci-fi popcorn film; it really wasn't very good.Good.
The series ran its course. Time for something fresh.
Well you Stargate fans, you guys are lucky to only lose out on those TV shows. How do you think Star Wars fans feel?

One of the recent continuum episodes had amanda carter listed as director.
Well, okay, I just saw that the director also made vile garbage like The Day After Tomorrow and 2012. I am for a reboot, but not done by him.

Well this is how I feel about that:

The movie had potential, but was a shitheap trainwreck. The show had no reason for even existing.
This is one reboot I can actually welcome.
Heh. I didn't even pick that up, thinking myself on first glance that the name was correct. Yes, her name is Amanda Tapping, her character in the show is Carter.Did you mean Amanda Tapping, or is this just an odd name that happened by chance?
