Well my son has a science fair project coming up that we're building him a SLI system for and I thought to possibly buy Object Desktop or another such app if there any others out there to skin the desktop with.

In the past I have messed with WindowsBlinds, I never really had a need for it, but I thought it might be cool to deck the desktop out to the max, and Woooo everyone there at the Science show, especially those that have never seen how dressed up it can look.

I want to blow them away with one sweet looking desktop. ;)

Any help on any other Windows desktop apps that might even be freeware would be great. Personally I don't think, once the show is over that I will really want to mess with this stuff anymore. Me I'm a bit old for all the eye candy. Give me a nice wallpaper and that's all I need, in fact I use XP with the themes killed in the services, I just use the good old Windows classic look and even the classic menu.

THANKS

I did that already and I'm running different Visual Styles at the moment. I'm trying out iconpackager then is all, I guess there is nothing with it that can mess up system performance, so for the least amount of problems, looks like Visual Style & Iconpackager is the way to go.

use a bricopack - changes all windows icons, applies a visual theme, most are packaged with the freeware version of objectdock

Aston hmm never heard of that Shell before, not sure I want to put some cheapy shell on a $3000 gaming box. objectdock well I'm only worried about it hogging memory, but I'll give it a try.

THANKS

P.S. Thank GOD I know how to run JV16 Power Tools and clean the box out after putting in some many BS apps.

Ahh forget it, I think all I'l use are Visual Styles and iconpackager. Does anyone know if Iconpackager cause any problems, or instability?

I certainly don't want anything messing up the box at all.

THANKS

Cool is one thing, but System performance and stability is another, so I'm not sure I really want to mess around with Object Desktop, and Window Blinds in a $3000 gaming machine and have it foul things up.

THANKS

it might be worth it to just buy the Stardock pack. the new windowblinds has nice transparency effects too.
windowFX let's you tweak the desktop icons a bit. big icons look kinda cool.
i've never seen any instability with any of their products.
there are free versions of objectdock also.
