Starcraft / Resolution = what ?

This is for the Original Starcraft Battlechest which contains Brood Wars.

Ok, I have found all over the net that a program called "Resolution Expander" works with Win 7 64. All it needs is to be downloaded and copied to the install directory.

Well, I did this. And it does not work. I have also tried every option known to man that I have read about that "others have got it to work" with Win 7 64. Most info comes from the Widescreengaming site.

I have installed Resexpander exactly how stated, I have tried ALL compatibility settings, Run as Admin.....you name it...I've tried it. And it doesn't work.

Without resexpander though, Starcraft runs perfectly fine on Win 7 64. But to get the resolution to change, I have to run Resexpander and start Starcraft by using the Insectloader. And I do not play on Battle.net. This is only single player I am trying to change the resolution to.

And please do not say it doesn't work on 64 bit...because it does. I have seen it first hand. Its just that...mine wont.

Suggestions ?

EDIT: I have tried Resolution Expander 6, and 5.1 with same results. Don't work.

Yea, Once I found it was possible, thought Id try as well. However, Ive been at this for two days now. I have seen it work though, just cant get mine to.

What Starcraft are you guys trying to run? SC:BW runs fine on my system (w/o the res expander), Windows 7 64 bit and all. Run the executable in WinXP emulation/compatibility.

Or are you talking about the Rez expander in particular?

Does Resolution Expander work for anything else? Is it specially SC:BW that has the issue with it? What rez does the game itself allow?

The maximum resolution is 800x600.

When I played BW last time, I used a launcher from iccup. It had an option to play in a window with pixels doubled. Looked and worked great.
