STARCRAFT: Installing for LAN party.

Howdy,

I have 4 PCs that I want to put Starcraft on to use for a small LAN party. I know SC has the "Spawn" install thing but do I have to use that?

If I install the full version on each PC using the same CD key and then make a TCP/IP game, will I get an error because all computers use the same key? Reason I don't want to Spawn is that you are then limited to the original SC and can't Spawn with Brood War.

Has anyone tried this before and if so, what did you do to get SC:BW to work on LAN games? I don't need to be able to go to B.Net at all...

Thanks.

CD-Key is only required for online play. If you play as a LAN, you *shouldn't* need a different CD-Key.

EDIT: Also, I suggest using the Hamachi program for gamers, if you're not all connected to the same network.

That's what I was hoping.... But just wanted to know if anyone knows for sure that there's no Key check for straight LAN games. heh heh. DIdn't want to waste installign everything if it wasn't going to work.

There are CDKey changing programs available, so even if you did find that it was a problem, you could fix it. However, CDKey's are certainly only for online play.

another thing, if it comes to trying to install, it takes about 45 seconds to install starcraft and another 30 for brood war, so it's not like your installing fear or something.

Arrrrr Matey. Starcraft has got to be like $5 now. Just have everyone get a copy, so they can play on BNet later.

Oh, and for the record, it's one full install to 3 spawns, so you could do that and cover everyone with no need for cracks/noCDs/etc.

For sure, it will work without valid cd-keys and indentical ones. My brother and I have been playing SC BW a lot this past week for old time reminiscence reasons..we played/installed sc with the cd key of 1212121212121212.. It works. Only tough part is the networking..hope you're knowledgeable about that. good luck with the lan party!
