Outer most screen is 16:9
Red edges are for 16:10
Yellow is 4:3

Resolution makes no impact on how much you can see, only the aspect ratio is what matters (1600x1200 vs. 1024x768 = same). I would have thought you could see more vertically at 1920x1200 vs. 1920x1080 but you instead just lose horizontal!

It's not weird. It's the same as going from 4:3 to 16:10 and expecting hor+ instead of vert-. You are getting hor+ again when you go to 16:9.
 
How is that weird? The wider the aspect, the more you see. So by going from 4:3 to 16:10 you expect to see more, but by going from 16:10 to 16:9 (even wider) you expect to see less? Aspect determines the view area, resolution how much detail you see 🙂
