Starcraft doesn't like me

Edit: I got it installed, didn't really do anything different the install thing just decided to show up after a long while *shrug*

I decided to play some Starcraft, haven't played it in like 3-4 years. So i tried to install it and it froze my computer. The disc is in good condition, not many scratches or smudges or anything. During one of the times my computer froze i tried to pop out the CD and my computer restarted. When i got to my desktop there was one of those error report things, said 'Error caused by a device driver'

Error type : Windows stop error (A message appears on a blue screen with error code information)
Solution available? : No (see Next steps)
What does this error mean? : Windows has encountered an error from which it cannot recover and needs to restart

There was no blue screen though. Anyone know how i can get it working?

thats odd, i just installed it last week and nothing went wrong. my no cd crack doesn't work anymore, and the current one doesn't have music when u use it grrr...

try intsalling something else. see if it pulls that again😛

That ALWAYS happens to me with starcraft, and maybe a few other really old games like c&c red alert. Never found a solution.

Heh, like i said i never played much starcraft. It's been so long since i played it it's like i'm starting out from square 1. Only thing i remember about SC is "Protoss". Even back when i first got it i didn't play it much. So i don't think i'm ready for a ladder, but i do plan to play online so that should help me out. I'll probably try and finish single player missions before i go online so i at least am familiar with everything.

Crazy. I get a really similar thing whenever Starcraft tries to autoplay in my drive. The strange thing is that is didn't happen in the past and I haven't changed any settings...

what happens if u turn off autoplay in registry?

Oh, I just hold down shift while inserting the disk, which should disable autoplay for that insertion.

same thing happened to me. i put it in the cd tray and the computer basically froze for like 3 minutes. Then it comes up. Solution i made was too create a disc image then use Daemon Tools to mount it and it goes faster. But SP2 really did slow things down a lot.
