Starcraft - CD spins up really loud the whole time

I recently installed starcraft on the PC in my sig and the CD ramps up to full speed and stays there the whole time I'm in the game. I know that the music is read off the CD, but why must my drive run so loud to play just music? I've tried 3 different drives with the same results:

-Sony DVD-ROM IDE
-Samsung CD-RW IDE
-Samsung DVD burner SATA (brand new)

I can't find any info on a no-cd patch that will work with the music - is there no way around this?

maybe you don't remember the noise because back then you had a 4x cd drive?

perhaps nero drivespeed will help?

The latest Starcraft patch removes the cd-check, so no need for a crack. http://us.blizzard.com/support...le.xml?articleId=21149

I have it patched at it still requires the CD - do I need the Broad war expansion?

Nevermind - I didn't copy install.exe from my CD to enable the music

I loved the Broad war expansion... lots of chicks got added to Starcraft.
