more viable strategies means more things to memorize. More build orders to execute, more unit interaction to maintain, more strategies to defend against, better understanding of unit to unit comparison.

Every aspect of the game is more complex and requires more knowledge and attention to properly react. How does this not take more skill?

More potenial skill, but sadly that doesn't follow through to actual skill. Most of the skilled players played original and most of the people that say that original sucks 9/10 just arn't good at SC. Notice I didn't say BW lacked skill....b/c its there, but the perchentage of skilled players on original in any given game is greater than that of BW.
