Will a HD 5770 be able to run starcraft 2 on ultra setting on a 24inch 1080p smoothly?
What would be the average FPS?
Thanks

What are the other system specs?

On ultra? Probably not. On high with possibly a setting or two turned down to medium, yeah, no problem.

I run at 1680x1050 with a 5770 on Ultra. No issues there. At that resolution, though, you might need to go down to high.

If you have a quad core processor from the i5/i7 family such as the i5 750/760/860+, then 5770 will max out SC2 on Ultra.

It's not going to be 60fps and you won't be able to use high levels of AA though: http://www.techspot.com/review/305-starcraft2-performance/page7.html

If you are contemplating a videocard upgrade, for SC2, it's definitely worth it to spend an extra $50 for the GTX460.

The difference between 5770 and GTX460 at 1920x1080 is about 15-20 fps: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/starcraft2-wings-of-liberty_5.html#sect2
GTX460 1GB = 65 avg / 49 min
5770 = 47 avg / 38 min

Both cards will be fine though.

depends on your CPU... i have a 5750 and an Opty 165 OC'd to 2.65 and I run my settings on high for 1080P, its 30-40fps. On ultra it goes a bit lower than 30fps so I keep it at high settings.

I know someone who has 5750/i7 and they run ultra easily (dont know FPS tho)

I have a Q6600 at 3.2 GHz with a 4870 512MB video card. I run SC2 at 1920x1080 with the graphics turned all the way up except for the textures set to high (since ultra requires 1GB of memory). It runs very smoothly for me. I might even have AF turned on, but definitely no AA.

Was running a 5770 @ 1080 Ultra settings SC2 and it worked just fine. Wasn't doing 60+ but it was still silky smooth.

Hell my 4850 512mb could do SC2 on Ultra.
