If they stuck to a single thread they'd have trouble justifying to themselves for paying so much for 1/3 of a game.

Funny story: I just beat it and that 1/3 is a lot better than any game I've played in awhile. That was just the single player as well.
 
If you can't grasp the concept that this "1/3rd" of a game is the length of most full RTS games, then... well.. you've got bigger problems.
