no point in pre-ordering...the game has no set date on it. at least last i checked
does have release date on it whether true or not
Blizzard already confirmed at WWI that this isn't true. The december date was made up by gamestop and all other vendors followed their lead.
You never pre-order games because there will always be enough. Hardware on the other hand is a whole different story.
ehhh there is some truth to that.. ive seen games that sold just enough...and ive seen games where they shortchanged people...
zelda for gamecube is one of them. the one that is on the wii. i dont know the name. they sent less than enough for the pre-orders alone..
so in most instances yes pre-order is stupid
god of war 2 which sold like crazy isone of those games that peopleneeded to pre-order. i worked at an ebgames during that time, and we ran out, the store down the street ran out as well.
Hmm, wonder if Circuit City will still be around when StarCraft 2 is finally released
yes, stores like ebgames will sell out, but then there will always be stores like Target where people don't really think of them for going to get a video game and they'll always have such games in stock (note, not necessarily just Target, but any such store)
even stores in my area such as Best Buy and Circuit City will have a great track record of carrying more than enough games to meet the demand, I've basically discovered trends in my area that people will associate certain stores such as ebgames/gamestop and ToysRUs as the place to go to pick up games/game hardware on its first release, often neglecting the 5 or 6 other stores within a square mile that will carry the same items
I guess if you're in a podunk area you might want to do it, but even then online is always an option (might not get it right at midnight on launch, but you'll at least get it launch week) ... I was able to order Zelda for the Wii online from Walmart right at the Wii's release, getting the Wii took a few more months to acquire...and from what I saw I didn't even need to order the game online as I noticed many of the stores I have been talking about carried plenty of stock of the Zelda software, they just didn't have the Wii hardware...
I agree. I didn't even have an issue picking up GTA IV on the day of the release. I live in South Florida too where the population density is quite high. The exception is pretty much any popular item involving the Wii. It's a conspiracy!
yeah i totally agree, and for most people ebgames/gamestop, they belive that those are the only stores that games are sold. i only shop there to get used games, as in they are the only real places in my area that carries them
When Diablo 2 launched, it sold out at the first two stores I went to (BB and CC). I had to go to Microcenter to find a copy.
I remember preordering Bioshock Collector's Edition, Clive Barker's Jericho, and The Witcher....not because I believed they'd sell out but because it's sort of like lay-away and I enjoyed being able to pay off the games I was looking forward to and just walking in on release day, picking them up, and getting the hell out to play them right away. Although I haven't bothered to preorder Starcraft 2 even though it's the #1 PC game I'm looking forward to...just because it's just so far away until it's release.
