Stores have been making up release dates to sell more preorders for a long time now, where have you been?

I think I'm very interested in D3 and could give a flying turd about starcraft.

Opposite for me, although I'm sure I'll get both anyway.

There is no way this will come out in 2008... Blizzard has a history of releasing games later than their initial estimates. They are going to fine tune the crap out of it for the South Korean crowd.

Hmm ya maybe, but it would make sense pushing it out before x-mas hits.

Probably more something like holidays 2009, or summer at the very earliest, same thing for Diablo III.

Blizzard can release their games at any time of the year without having to worry about sales, and they definitely wouldn't rush it out to meet Christmas shopping schedules even if that meant only going over the game 20 times instead of 25.

Keep in mind, they canceled thralls quest when it was almost completed, and more or less canceled starcraft ghost well into development (quality assurance). Blizzard is a special company.

Like that matters. Blizzard knows they don't need the holiday to get sales. They'll rake in the money regardless of when it's released.

Either of these would get me back into PC gaming.

Blizzard will release their games whenever they feel its ready.

Even with the Activision merger, you'll think they'll get pushed around in rushing a game to meet certain deadlines and holidays? They are still very independent and would give a shit about their owners and publisher's demands and deadlines. And they can't really do much due to Blizzard's huge success in the last decade and potential to do more in the future.

Maybe before the 2009 Christmas

What you're describing is EA's tactics, not Blizzard's. They make sure that the game is complete. They refuse to rush it. "It's finished when it's finished."

wrong, try mid 09, if not late 09.

Or 2010 . . .Blizzard has a history of delaying launches repeatedly. Its too far out now to get excited about SC2.

No it doesn't. Why? Because they have Wrath of the Lich King WoW expansion coming out during holidays.

They aren't going to give release 2 giant titles at the same time. It wouldn't make sense financially.

You couldn't be more wrong. The Xmas season is the biggest selling time for toys & games. If it's ready, that's the time to release it.

Sadly, Bateluer is the one I agree with in this thread. Blizzard always delays launches.

RA3 is worth it over starcraft, besides, whats the good in only being able to select 12 units?

If you release 2 giant titles, chances are the general population of consumers are going to only buy 1 title. Thus you are losing out on $.

If you only release 1, then there's only 1 option for the consumers to pick.
