Yeah...no one really wants SC2 to be like that. Gotta give it more a chance though, it was just announced 4 hours ago. I'm hoping it'll be something new and not just basic RTS rules and stuff...ie, defend, get supplies, build lots of buildings, create a buttload of units, attack, and repeat. RTS' and MMORPGs are due for a makeover.

For starters, It looks like you can select 20-32 units at a time, rather than just 12.

That alone is worth playing SC2 for.
 
All they have to do is upgrade the graphics engine, and add a few units, and the game will go multiplatinum.

Itd be very hard for blizzard to mess it up.
 
omg..i just jizzed a little when i saw the screen shot🙂

and they put out a new starcraft1 patch too!!🙂

can't wait, starcraft was the best rts out there🙂
 
Oh man oh man, what are teh progamers gonna do now? Split proleague? Great news btw. DEFINITELY GETTING THIS! (when it comes out..)

edit: BTW, the USE MAP SETTINGS games will be AMAZING for SC2
 
I *really* hope you can zoom out from that close-in view shown in the screen shots. I actaully find it impossble to play the new C&C becuase it feels like being trapped in a little box specifically designed to prevent me contolling my units.
 
They dont need to add another race. And if is just a better looking version of starcraft 1 I will just go ahead and stick to Dawn of War.

Just remember to add 3 years to whatever Blizzard claims is the release date. 😛

My guess: this thing isn't coming out before 2011.
 
Remember, it's Pre-Alpha right now, so lots of things can change. The only things that won't change are the things they announced.
When has Blizzard ever failed us?
