StarCraft 2 and memory usage

Does anyone have a good idea how much memory SC2 uses at peak? My system has 4GB and it gets max'd out when playing SC2 (Win7 64).

I don't think it seriously impacts on performance (a little animation stuttering during startup into the menu, and maps probably take a little longer to load than people I'm playing with), but I'm just curious, and thinking about adding an extra 4GB.

I went from 4 to 8 gigs and it was worth it although I did this before I ever played SC2 so I don't know how much of a difference it made with that game.

I believe that SC2 is 32-bit. Windows 7-64 is coded to limit 32-bit applications to 3GB of ram so you shouldn't ever see any game use more than that unless the game is 64-bit. That limit is 2GB for 32-bit windows.

Just to add, this is why early versions of Supreme Commander crashed so much. The game disregarded it's memory usage and slammed into the 2GB barrier and bam, game crash. 😛 Games are programmed with these limitations in mind.

SC2 is fine with 4GB.
Take out some RAM so you have 2GB, try and play SC2, then go back to 4GB. You will then know what it's like to have not enough RAM while playing SC2.
