I've heard a lot about this game, I have shooters that I dabble with, but I really like games like Civilization. Is this something that I might like?

It is a real time strategy game. It is somewhat similar to Civilization, but focused on tactical combat, where as Civilization in particular really makes combat abstract (plus Civilization is turn based, not real time). It is much closer to Warcraft or Command and Conquer than it is to Civilization.

Yeah, that's a possibility too. I think every PS3 exclusive release in the last year or so has had a collector's edition so take your pick.

I saw that. What's the big deal about the Helgast Edition?
It seems with all these 'Special Editions' its just a bunch of super nerd junk like game art and dolls.

Starcraft is quite a different beast than Civilization.

You can also search youtube for replays and see if the gameplay is something that would interest you. Starcraft has a huge pro scene (it is the national sport of South Korea) so there are a lot of replays with commentary to watch.

I think the 2 best known English commentators on youtube are Husky Starcraft and HD Starcraft

1 suggestion is to test the game on your computer with DEMO.

SC2 is quite a CPU hog. but only uses dual cores.
