I'm not surprised considering you can't throw a rock without hitting a Starbucks store these days. They put the damn things so close together.

They just built a new shopping center here in Cary, and put a standalone Starbucks in the shopping center -- and then a Starbucks inside the Harris Teeter grocery store just a few stores down

There are so many starbucks around me within a 2 mile radius. I doubt any of those stores will be closing though, it's always packed.

Buy gas, or get a $6 coffee. Hmmm, tough choice.

All kidding aside, imho they are a classic example of a company that tried to expand too fast and in the process overbuilt in some areas.

I was wondering when this was going to happen. Starbucks is worse than Waffle House now.

2-mile radius? More like 100-ft walking distance. I went from one Starbucks to a Target store in the same shopping center, and inside they had... another Starbucks.

I wonder how many of them are here....every block has at least one starbucks, a tully's, a seattle's best, and a smaller chain or independent coffee shop.

Not necessarily. sbux has been on an upward trajectory for quite a while now. They started slowing a couple of years ago. It was bound to happen as with any product.

<-- never been in an sbux :Q :)

I get the medium coffee which comes out to two bucks exactly. It does taste burned most of the time but I don't get it for taste, I get it to boost my sleepy ass in the morning.

I was sitting in a Starbucks in a Target last Sunday and thinking "is it really necessary to have this here?"

There is no reason that my local mall should have 2 Starbucks in the mall and 1 in the Barnes and Noble that's attached to the mall.

There are just way to many of them out there.

I'm not surprised. Starbucks missed the 'panera' boat a while ago and quickly became outdated and stale.
