Today Starbucks will close all their stores early to have bias training.

This is why corporations just plain suck....I WANT MY COFFEE!!!

I feel bad for the employees that have to sit through that training for bullshit reasons.

Gotta hand it to Starbucks... they do a decent job at pretending to give a damn about racial bias when the media calls them out on it.

Their coffee sucks. It’s so strong it’s practically undrinkable.

I believe you're referring to it being roasted too dark, which if anything, would give it a harsher taste. Has zero correlation with strength (longer the roast -> less caffeine).

If I were an employee I would find it deeply grating to be told I need to undergo "racial bias training" all because of a couple bad apples.

Serving coffee all day vs being paid the same to watch a presentation, probably with free coffee provided? It seems like a pretty easy choice to me.

If it was a >1hr long presentation by proponents of Jewish conspiracy theories / 'race realism' though, I would probably prefer to serve coffee (or stay and rip the presenters a new one, if that's allowed).

If only there was someplace else to buy coffee...

But my gift card is to starbucks!

Except I'm guessing a lot of employees have to come in on their day off or have an awkward shift schedule because of it

Another way to phrase that is: "HAHA!! Starbucks is so weak that the media can make them dance like a puppet on a string over whatever bullshit cause they want".

Not to mention having to sit through a condescending, touchy/feely PC presentation. I'd rather clean the restrooms that are now inhabited by homeless people.

My problem with all this is their new policy of open bathrooms. I predict a severe drop in sales at stores in areas that have a high homeless problem. And ‘safe’ stores now will slowly become Mecca’s for the homeless.

Yeah, they didn't think this through. The Starbucks in places like Seattle and SanFran are going to become infested with smelly bums.

They're making a gamble that this will pay off in terms of overall customer response. If they are perceived as being willing to address what they think is a real problem--perhaps internal review revealed further, less-public problems?--then they are assuming that the cost will be worth it in long-term consumer perception.

It was absolutely stupid IMO. The American public are like 10 year old kids. They have INCREDIBLY small attention spans and will find something different to bitch about next week. Life and profits will continue as normal, without the stupidity and costs of closing stores for a BS "training"

Seems to me to be a good opportunity to support local coffee shops and keep on doing so...

You're arguing that it won't affect their bottom line because no one cares yet it is obviously a stupid thing to do.

OK.
