I was getting some beans and mentioned my 7 year old Barista machine that was still "working", but on its way out after 1000's of Espresso shots. The clerk pointed out that the Barista machines are currently on sale. I showed some interest and the manager came by and chopped 30% off the sale price if I bought it on the spot.

He then rang it up with tax and took 30% off of that. He said, "I've been told by my regional manager to do anything I have to do to sell of these machines during this sale." (I'm in the SF Bay Area)

My receipt says $190.24. Sale ends Sunday 4/1.

I have been using my old Barista machine daily for 7 years, it makes great Espresso and steamed milk. It's a little crusty now, the pump sounds rough, but what would you expect after 7 years of pouring tap water into it?

This is a real (although "entry level" against $1000 machines) espresso maker. This is not something made by Mr. Coffee and sold at Best Buy.

Gotta concur with you on the Barista. I purchased one thru a Starbucks employee who got a discount on the machine. This a really an excellent machine for daily use and produces a great espesso. Also has a special porta filter on it (IIRC called Rappaport) which there is no need to tamper down coffee and produces great crema....I'm a fan of this machine...good find OP!!!
