Starbound - A Sandbox Open World/Galaxy RPG

For those late to the party, Starbound is a 2D side scrolling RPG (which also happens to be the spiritual successor to Terraria) which will feature a massive randomly generated galaxy, stars, planets, biomes, dungeons, weapons, towns, and monsters.

Starbound will also have a full story line, six playable races (so far) each with their own history, as well as in-depth lore you can find sprinkled about the game. A full blown crafting system is also in place. And for the Terraria fans, Starbound will also feature fully destructible terrain and building.

Pre-orders are also available with Kickstarter like tiers and stretch goals. As of this posting almost $600,000USD has been raised!

Yup. Been eyeballin this one. They have a "roadmap" up on the site now. There's a ton of stuff they still have to do, and they are still saying 2013.

Name had me excited and as soon as I saw it was similar to Terraria, my heart sank.
