I'm fairly certain that 'Soul Plane' started off at 100% for awhile too.

I saw Phantom Menace a few times the first day it released. I saw Attack of the Clones on release day. I plan to see this one whenever I get around to it. People can say all they want about how these are just like the first ones in acting and blah blah but to me there is no comparison. Heart (not the band) made the first 3 films and the prequels are sorely lacking it.

Episode III makes up for the first two.

Lots of action in this one. The first 15 minutes or so is nonstop.

Sorry, but the only thing that saved return of the jedi was the special effects. There was no heart in that one. Ford gave one of his weakest performances ever. The ewoks are just as bad as jar jar...but as a kid you accept it. Now as an adult you don't accept all this sappy immature junk.

Special effects was what made the first films stand out and get noticed...no one had seen anything like it before. It was different from almost everything else on the market. The prequels are coming out at a time when the special effects are the norm...hence most people don't get as excited as they used to. Storyline is required even more now for the prequels to succeed but that's where they are lacking. This is the reason people don't view the new movies in the same light as the old ones.

I watched the original trilogy when I was a kid and thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. I look at them now and they're OK but nothing spectacular. LOTR trilogy has become the "new Star Wars" now. Of course this will only last until something better comes out. I'm waiting for someone to do Greek Mythology with modern writers and technology. A modern day Clash of the Titans or Jason and the Argonauts would be SWEET. Closest thing we've got is GOD OF WAR for the PS2 but that will tide me over for now :)

You're right; the acting and dialogue were pretty weak in the first three films, but they posessed something completely lacking in the last two: Charm.

this is probably what you would be expecting John Carter of Mars (Edgar Rice Burroughs' "A Princess of Mars" )

Excellent, excellent point. Do you remember a few years back when they said "Oh my god! Special effects are going to ruin filmmaking forever!!!!!" They did no take into consideration the savvy moviegoer. Many,if not all people who go to movies are back into the story line moreso than the effects. It was neat when CGI first blasted upon the scene(like Jurassic Park) People were in awe. Now they come to expect it.

I'll give you a case in point: Pixar's movies are phenomenal to look at , and they carry the time-honored tradition of a fantastic story line that most adults can actually sit through and enjoy with their kids. Whereas movies from Dreamworks are pretty to look at, but seem to lack substance(for the most part).

Bleh, spoilers. We all know what happens.

I expect it to be better than EP1 & 2, but the movies today will never touch the magic that was EP 4-6.

Question: Does this movie deal with whom's ass Yoda kicked on Dagoba?

It's dealt with in the books, he fought a dark jedi there and killed him/her.

By "dark", do you mean "black"? :D

I suppose that's not the case, since he's on record as saying that he told Lucas he didn't "want to die like a punk", and was apparently happy with the final result.

It's not like it was the worst mistake of the films, but Jackson's presence was almost as annoying as JarJar's for me.

Not because he's black, but because he's totally miscast as a Jedi.

I didn't see that in the EPIII book. Which book are you referring to?

Apparently in the expanded universe, yoda fought and destroyed a dark jedi on dagobah in his earlier days. Then, when vader began hunting the jedi down, he fled to dagobah where the emanations of the dark side supposedly hid him. It was in one of the later books where luke returns to dagobah to find yoda's hovel overgrown and stuff...I want to say it's the heir to the empire trilogy, but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong.

Han's best line:

Greedo: "That's the idea. I've been looking forward to killing you for a long time."
Han: "Yes, I'll bet you have." [blaster fire]
