Star Wars movies

I'm pretty sure I've seen them all before, but I don't remember them at all. I might have even missed one or two of the new ones. I don't really know the story.

Should I watch them from 1 to 6, or in the order they were made?

To properly follow the story line, 1-6, but there was a HUGE jump in technology between the making of 6 and 1, so they don't seem like the same movies...just similar...

I agree that watching the original 3 is a good choice...1-3 seem much more like they were made as children's movies than as part of the Star Wars series.

Watch IV, V and VI for the real Star Wars movies. Use the prequels to play a drinking game; simply take a shot whenever something in the movie is absolutely retarded when compared to the original films (warning: attempting this with all three prequels in a row will result in alcohol poisoning and death; Episode II should only be attempted by expert drinkers or chronic assholes who the world would be better off without). If you're trying to quit drinking, simply change the game so you take a drink whenever something in the prequels is totally awesome; guaranteed sobriety (the Darth Maul lightsaber fight was admittedly pretty cool, and I think there might have been something in Episode III...).

this way.

EDIT: and make sure they are the non-remastered, digitally enhanced and "improved" versions from ~97. Well, Empire is OK. 4 and 6 were destroyed, though.

You realize this is going to take a long time, right? More than a case of beer long, right?

he can buy two cases and make a weekend of it. thats enough time to watch the movies and get over the hangover.

This is all you need of Episode I
(OMG, SPOILER ALERT ETC ETC ETC....)

As best as I can figure, Episode I was intended for kids. There wasn't much in terms of graphic violence, the dialogue was fairly simplistic, the main character was about the age of the target audience, there was the podracing scene which really didn't do much for the plot, the bad guys are very clearly "bad" - horns and black and red tattoos, and there was Jar-Jar.
It was likely done for marketing purposes: Get them hooked at a young age, sell them the action figures, and rake in the money.

Then Episode II was a bit darker, a bit more violent, and a bit more advanced in target audience age.

Episode III attempted to reach the same level of the others. But it still had Hayden "It's Not Fair!" Christensen, and more of Lucas' godawful dialogue writing.

4-5-6 and then stop.

EDIT: And yes make sure they are the pre-Special Edition versions. They digitally remastered the film without actually changing anything just a couple years before the special editions came out.

Agreed. And be sure to watch the originals - not that re-edited crap where they added additional scenes with CGI and completely changed the ending of 6. 🙁

But then he'll miss the Ewok disco!

Correct, that is the laserdisc version which is as good as its ever going to get. Unfortunately you can't buy it on DVD, so unless you have a laserdisc player, you'll have to download it somewhere.

456, and then 4 and 5 over and over because 6 is the worst of the original. and bits of 3, and the darth maul fights in 1. but 2 is just awful.

If you want to take the time 1-6 otherwise you can just do 4-6 like the others. But personally I would rather have the full story despite the crapyness. (I did not really find them that bad tbh, but could of been better - too much politics, too little action)

I watched 1-6 with a friend but my dvd for 3 did not work properly in his dvd player so we just fasforwarded to "NOOOOOOooooo" then stopped it. (that's by far the best line in Star Wars)
