There was something about that on one of the national nightly news shows tonight; talked about him dropping out of school and seeking psychiatric treatment as a result of what happened. His family is suing the boys who made the video.

Nate

I thought he made the video and his friends just put it on kazza or something

Eh, it's his own fault. If you want to be a chubby dumbass and even go to the trouble of taping yourself being one then you might end up with that. "You pays your money and you takes your chances".

From what the news story said, the kid didn't tape himself. HIs friend evidently had a hidden camera and taped his little performance and then posted it on the Net, hence, the lawsuit by the boy's parents.

Hmm.. so that's the final story?

I thought the kid recorded himself, and forgot to delete the footage or something, and the other kids found it and posted it.

no. He taped himself. His friends got the tape and put it on the net. It wasn't their property, they didn't have permission to do so, and there's the lawsuit.

This is correct. You can even see him going towards the camera to turn if off and such

I'm pretty sure he taped himself. When you watch the original video he seems to start and stop recording himself, and he seems fully aware of the camera while doing the tricks.

Iirc he taped it at school using the school's av equipment. In that case how can it begin to be argued as his private property?

Maybe. Quite possibly not though.
