Star Wars: Episode 1 - 3 Poll

Well I have yet to meet anyone who thought the 3 new star wars were anywhere near as good as the originals, but I was curious to see just how bad everyone thought they were, and if anyone has any hopes for Episode III.
 
your poll sucks. there's no option for "I liked episode one and two" which I am probably one of the few that did. yes, I saw EP1 seven times in the theatre.
 
1 and 2 sucked majorly, and I have no reason to believe Ep 3 will be any different. It's a crime what he has done to the original trilogy... I'll stick to my laserdisc rips of those movies.
 
Is there a way to change the poll. I guess I didn't account for somone liking both episode 1 and 2...I'm not sure how to change polls once they have been posted.
 
I & II are mediocre at best IMHO. I want to believe III will be better though. I really do. But I don't.

I'm waiting for the DVD release of the good trilogy this September.
 
I liked both 1 & 2 the first times I saw them in the theater. It was an hour or two after I saw each that I had digested the films enough to realize they were crap.
 
1 and 2 = teh suck. I mean c'mon, pod racing? Jar-Jar Binks? pffffffffft

I so loved the original Star Wars movies (4-6), but this new stuff blows.

If you look at Ep 3-5 objectively, they really weren't very good movies. Sure, they were special for their time, but they certainly don't hold up today.

For instance, Stormtroopers... Did they take shooting lessons from The A-Team??? And what's the point of their armor, since it didn't protect them from anything?

And Ewoks... Absolutely ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the whole "You look like my God, so I'm going to worship you" concept was ripped off from a Gilligan's Island episode.

Note to the rebels... If you are going to build a shield around your secret base, put the friggin' shield generator INSIDE THE SHIELD!

I could go on and on. 😉
 
episode one: cut school with my other geek friends to see it on opening day. biggest disappointment of my life. the movie was crap... no one walked out, but the entire theater spent most of the movie yelling at Jar Jar to die.

episode two: hadn't planned on seeing it at all, but my sister had an extra ticket and convinced me to go with her and her friends. it was better than episode 1, but the love saga really dragged -- the two actors have absolutely no chemistry together, they're both pretty mediocre actors, and the relationship itself seemed extremely contrived. as cool as the battle scenes were, the Anakin-Amadala thing really ruined the movie for me. plus, Anakin came off as a little whiny b!tch.

episode three: it's hopeless... the only way to make a good Star Wars movie at this point is to get someone other than George Lucas to direct it.

I agree... but episode 1-2 make episode 4-6 look like Citizen Kane.
 
Episode 1 and 2 are OK. A few years from now, people will be still watching episode 4, 5, and 6 and memorizing all the lines 🙂, while 1-3 will be forgotten.
 
What it did to eps 4 - 6 was a crime. That's like Leonardo da Vinci going back and altering the Mona Lisa.

He actually is releasing them september 21, BUT there are rumors he has mad alterations, and I dont think they are the original, original, they are the special edition ones... Also for those who think that the shield generator was outside the shield, it was actually inside, but the AT-AT's and AT-ST's walked under to destroy the shield generator... 😛 . And yes... I know what my knowing that says about my social life...
 
I like all of the episodes so far, can't wait for the third. That chase scene starting with Obi Wan hanging onto the droid in Episode II is awesome, the special effects for that huge city are great.

Can someone please explain to me what was so wrong with any of the alterations Lucas made to the original three films?

As for Episode 1, if you take out Jar Jar, the movie really wasn't that bad. D.Maul was a bad4ss, and getting to see how the republic/empire story develops was very cool..

Ep 2 was very good - yes, the relationship between "Anny" and Amidala is average at best, but remember in the first SW films, Luke was falling for HIS SISTER!! YUCK!

The background story was cool, and the effects in Ep2 were amazing, I'm looking for more in Ep3 - which will likely be a darker film given the events that must take place..

What is this about Boba Fett's voice?
 
Seriously... I don't understand why people think the first trilogy was so great. I've seen each of them in the theatre during their first release. I stood in line for hours on the first day that ESB and ROTJ were released. Like I said, while they were great for their time, there are so many things that are just plain stupid.

I'll bet that for every ridiculous scene that I can think of in EP 1&2, I can think of one for EP 4-6.
