I went and saw the film this morning for free I might add, that will be important later. Here's the run down.

1) It is PG and is IMHO meant to draw kids 8-12 into the Star Wars universe. It is not as serious and tries to add humor to middling success.

2) The animation and textures aren't up to par with what they should have been IMO. It does lack the subtlety that real people add in their body language and facial features.

3) I didn't feel like there was closure when the film ended.

4) The plot line seems not quite Star Wars caliber. (Rescue Jabba's son). Frankly, it reminded me of my stint playing WoW with a 'retrieve this quest'. Basically, they said go get Jabba's son and based an entire movie on this.

5) Asohka (sp???) has a very annoying voice, yes she is supposed to be young, but come on! And the attitude! If a padawan acted that way, they would be dispatched with extreme prejudice.

6)Ventress was overhyped. She didn't play as big a role as I was lead to believe.

7) To the people who couldn't believe Samuel L Jackson did the voice, but the others didn't. Mace Windu has like 4 freakin words in the entire movie. I'd wager it took him less than 15 mins total to record and he was probably paid more than any of us make in a year.

8)Production value was good for the most part, but there were a number of scenes where it would cut to different characters eyes for no apparent reason. i.e. Hey Obiwan, want a beer? Cut to Obiwan's eyes, Cut to Anakin's eyes, cut to Bob the virtual extras eyes.

9) The dialogue was pretty bad. i.e. Asohka talking to Anakin: Whatever you say Skyguy. *using the voice of a 11 year old girl*

I don't really know why they chose to use this portion of the Star Wars universe considering every other portion was more exciting. If I had to rank it overall. I would have to put it in last place, behind the cartoon network seasons as well. It could/should have been much better with what they had to work with.

Overall score 4/10 and that is probably being generous.

See it if you are a real fan AND if its a matinée and only costs you $5 or less (preferably free).

I'll answer questions if you have any. There aren't any real spoilers because there isn't any 'plot' and the 'plot' is described in the trailer IIRC.

Just remember that this 'movie' is actually the opening for a Star Wars: Clone Wars television series. At some point, this was just going to be the premier episode(s) but then Lucas and Co. decided to release it to theaters instead.

So, in other words, expect the quality to be on the TV level...which would still make it better than The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith.

yup, this is just Lucas milking the cash cow - he probably knows very well that he screwed up the prequel trilogy big time yet also knows he might as well keep pissing on the corpse because it can't get any worse...

Afraid not. I am quite certain this falls well below any of the 6 movies including those with Jar Jar Binx.

The TV series is live action isn't it? Hopefully that will help.

I know, I just couldn't resist getting in a shot at the prequels. I enjoyed the Tartakovsky animated Clone Wars better than those three films combined.

Nope. It is the same CGI Animation used in the movie.

The style is ok. If they gave it a touch of darkness like the Tartakovsky cartoons it could be good. As it stands, I don't know how well it is going to go over especially if the Asohka voice actor is the same. *shudder*

Last place still belongs to the Star Wars Christmas Special. Happy Life Day!

Let me guess Samuel L Jackson's 4 words in the movie, is it:

Mace: I hate motherfucking droids...

or

Mace: English, motherfucker!
JarJar: Meesa speaking engl..
Mace: Fuck it.... <cut JarJar's head off with PURPLE lightsaber>

Lucas has been trying his damnedest to kill Star Wars dead for years. I swear, he must hate the series and want to see it dead and gone, but no matter what's done, the fans keep coming back.

Just look at anything official, especially the theatrical material, in the last few years. This sounds like the latest salvo in that effort.

I liked yje cartoon series a lot, much more than the 3 prequels at least.

Shame this animated series doesn't seem up to par.
