What do you guys think about this game? It looks awesome.

Is it worth buying? I have BF2 and 2142 and love them - and I love Star Wars... so....

I own that game, and I keep installing and un-installing it, sometimes I find it very fun, sometimes I think it's boring. That game is pretty much dead on-line. You can sometimes see a few players, maybe a dozen or so, in one or two servers, but when I see people there's always bots to fill up the server's slots. I haven't seen a server full of humans playing since a year believe me, unless I just keep missing them but I'd highly doubt it. And the game only received two patches, one of which was almost useless, and the other never fixed the major concerns and complaints (like the infamous "no sounds" bug, where the sounds literally stop during game-play, or sometimes stop and start again but are screwed up).

It has some potential, but the modding community for it only made a few multi-player maps that focused on heroes (Jedi V.s Sith maps, like the Assault mode on Mos Eisley). The single-player isn't very well balanced, and the A.I isn't great at all. The missions aren't very original either. But I guess it's not necessarily a "bad" game, it's just quite bland, nothing special to it. That's the result of the developers letting it bite the dust, since they left it and haven't supported anything about it since they released their last patch.

My advice would be to not buy it, actually. I bought it, but I was lucky enough to buy it when there was still *some* life around it, either on-line or from the modding community. But to this very day the game is dead I say. You could still play it off-line, yes, but the terrible sound-related bugs will eventually annoy you enough to just un-install it and forget it.

Since you already have BF2/2142 - try this mod:

Star Wars First Strike

That works for BF2? It seems to say on their page that you need 2142 :(
