TNG On netflix?!
I'm going to have to rewatch them all now!

And lol at Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra... whenever I say/type something that people don't understand what I am meaning, that is the first thing that pops in my head.

Well, that and the thought that I suck at explaining sometimes. :)

AFAIK all the television star treks are on netflix now. I watched Enterprise in it's entirety before starting TNG. I suppose I'll move on to DS9 and Voyager next. So far TNG is living up to it's legendary status.

I tried watching both of those when they first started... never really thought either of them was worth getting into but maybe I will revisit them. I'm not sure why, they just never held my interest.

DS9 if you watch the entire series is pretty good. Of course like typical star trek, good episodes and bad episodes, but over all I enjoyed DS9 more than TNG.

Avery Brooks = shatner ham x 2.

At least in the first season so far.

The first season or so of DS9 sucked. Once the writers figured out that the Bajorans and Maquis were the whiniest, least-likeable protagonists they could have found they introduced the Dominion and the show got much better.

Surprisingly, the Star Trek people didn't learn from their mistake. After the terrible Maquis stories and characters almost sunk DS9 they turned right around and made half of the damn Voyager characters part of the Maquis which almost sunk that show in the first season.

Yeah, DS9 is a lot of fun if you can suffer through the first couple seasons. It's more story-focused, versus TNG which was character-focused.

Really though, the same thing could be said about TNG's early seasons. The first two are pretty bad, with only a few exceptions. They learned their lesson and gave Wesley a smaller role and stopped all the "Wesley saves the ship" episodes.

Voyager just sucked. I think it actually got worse as the series went on, unlike the other two.

Yes well most TV series are like that. It allows them to tell a different story each time within the same universe using the same characters. If they had to follow up on most of their stories they would never be able to explore all the different possibilities they did.
And it would mean that the writers would have to pay more attention to details, which they traditionally seem to do a lesser job of than the fanbase. ;)

Part of the issue is that during TNG you had 10+ writers all working on stories at the same time. Their only restrictions was to not kill anyone off or make any changes to characters. They had free reign so long as everything was back to normal at the end of the show.

Yeah, they dressed him in that stupid rainbow jumpsuit and kept calling him "The Boy". Awful.

Really? DS9 got boring for me. It seemed to be a bunch of "OK, who's going to go to war with us these week." episodes.

Oh, and one problem I had with TNG was this:

Seriously... wut?

That was Gene Roddenberry's influence. He insisted on things like that. This is hard to say, but after he died is when the series started getting better stories :D A lot of the first two seasons were recycled "Star Trek- Phase II" scripts from the late 70's.

I thought DS9 wasn't on NetFlix yet. I haven't seen it. Or maybe it's not under a "Star Trek" moniker.

Either way, my wife really got in to TNG and now she's getting in to Voyager...anything to get my wife watching science fiction.

DS9 is a great series. The first 2 seasons like most star trek series, are not great. But the rest is the best out there.

Voyager is generally not great but the Doctor is one of the best Star Trek characters ever created.

I like the Original series very much, but I have seen those episodes so many times, I rarely stop to watch them anymore.

I really like TNG and Voyager. I never could get into DS9 or Enterprise.

I remember that episode.

Noob. Come ack when you remember them all!!!

Where they all remember small bits of the alien probing?

Wasn't Troi there as well?
I'd like to probe Troi.

DS9 will be on Netflix streaming in Oct. The animated series will be the only one not available on Netflix.

those are the uniforms Sulu should have been wearing.
(or should i say Thulu (said with a lisp) )

and Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) trivia

the star dates mentioned in TNG actually have meaning.
They all start at 4XXXX ... the 2nd digit is season and the next
3 numbers indicate the location of the season

so 41233 would be season 1 near the start... and 44789 is season 4
near the end...and so on

and LOL at the darmok references.

some of my fav episodes were
Yesterdays Enterprise
I, Borg 1&2

the one with the tribbles where they went back in time to the old Enterprise(with Kirk)
The one where they found Scotty (trapped in a transport buffer) LoL when he was talking
to Geordie. When Geordie tells Picard how long it will take to repair. and Scotty says how long will it really take? 2hrs.. oh you didnt tell him how long it will really take

I liked the one with Worfs girlfriend - where they meet the Klingon ship (that were in hibernation sleep and about to wake up after 80 so years)

Any episode with Majel Barrett (Troi mother) is an instant turn the channel.
