Does it really care?

RT is crap these days and still to far that only 3 critics have seen it and don't count.

Yes, it really cares to put the lotion on its skin!

Seriously though.. these days? RT has always been crap to me. IMDB and Metacritic are much more accurate for my tastes at least, not to mention the hideous web design it has compared to them. But for some reason the majority of ATOT still likes to reference them above all though, just gotta chalk that up to things I'll never understand around here.

But yeah, this movie will be pre-hyped up (what I like to call 'Dark-Knight'd up') until rational, non-fanbois start seeing it for what it really is and bring the score down to something more fitting and less biased.

That line bugs me. Kirk and Spock have already gone there before!

Ah, the ATOT "Something is winning, therefore I must bring it down a few notches" response. Good call.

LOL so true!

I was going to see this regardless of what critics say about it. I form my own opinion, i don't base it on what other people think. I was not a fan of star trek TV series either, and I saw 2 of the other movies that were just okay.

No interest in retreads on 50 year old one dimensional characters. He couldn't write his way out of a box anyhow. Lost anyone?

RT is notoriously unreliable for movies with a hardcore fanbase. LOTR, Harry Potter and Star Trek have too many zealots with a mind to rigging scores.

What is the porno's name?

Let me know when it's out on DVD. No way in hell would I bother to pay the obscene ticket prices they charge at theaters these days.

Yea, those fuckers charge you a whole $7-$9 for two hours of entertainment that gets you out of your mom's basement.

I can see how that wouldn't be appealing at all.

Hmm... my mom's been dead for some 18 years now. I'd hate to be in her basement...

Couple that with the fact that I have 4 kids, only one of which MIGHT like to see the movie, and a wife who would definitely NOT be interested... yeah. I'll pass on trying to figure out why my shoes are sticking to the floor, thanks.

You could just say that your family doesn't want to see the movie so there's no reason for all of you to see it in a theater (thus you waiting for DVD) instead of bitching about ticket prices. If anyone actually looked at the figures they'd find that movie tickets have actually gotten less expensive (especially relative to other forms of out of home entertainment) over time as pricing has not kept pace with inflation.

Following a show means it has good writing? What has happened in the last 2 seasons? Absolutely nothing. The show has no direction and no plot anymore.

4 kids and 2 adults at $9= $54 without snacks. In 3 months you could own the movie with extras for under $20...

2 people could see the movie once while having to deal with obnoxious moviegoers or wait 3 months and own the movie with extras for the same price... hmm...

4 kids at $6.50 and two adults at $7 (mat pricing) = $40

1 adult and one child = $13.50 (least expensive and also pertinent option)

cost of DVD upon release = $17-$20

cost of Blu-ray upon release = $25

I was wondering this. I've never watched star trek and don't know much about it but the movie looks interesting.

FYI: most theaters have 7:00 P.M. showings of Star Trek on the 7th.

I've noticed this too. So far no midnight showings in my area at all, but all the theaters have a 7 and a 9:50 showing. Already got tickets to the 7 showing.
