Star Schema vs. Snowflake Schema

Which do you prefer.

For personal databases, I think normalizing to simpliest form 3NF and 4NF is preferable.

But it seems...

Star Schema is just too easy to use in programming data warehousing terms to not use in big projects. But redundancy is so painfully annoying coming from a stickler for clean data and programming.
