That sounds...like it COULD be interesting, depending on what you do before you have a ship. Losing a ship however just sounds stupid. If insurance is so cheap, then why bother having it? "Oh, you flew your ship into an asteroid but had $1 a month insurance on a $3mil ship? That's fine - have a new one."

Right...

It's important to have when your main selling point for getting initial financial backers is free ship insurance. Now that he has a ton of people backing his product, he can belittle the value of what he schlepped to other people down to irrelevant levels.

You're right. Because when I backed SC, the one thing that got me to part with my hard-earned money was the promise of lifetime insurance...

You mean said people I know who bought into it just because of the lifetime insurance? Yes, I know.

I don't feel like wasting my time finding interviews and articles from 2 years ago about ship insurance... All you need to do is look at current support pages to see that it is intended as a minimal cost. It has always been that what you are purchasing is support for developing the game, with the bonus that they give you a extra ship if you support them with certain funding level.

In fact, every ship that is being "purchased" has always been that way. I will point to a post I made back in 2013:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=35524499&postcount=541

We don't know the economy yet. Thus we don't know how easy/hard it is to earn money, or how much ships will cost. We can guess a bit based on weapon prices that have been released, but we are still just guessing. It might only take 2 hours of gameplay to earn enough for a Hornet (it might take 100 hours, we don't know).

If you think I am one of them, you are way off base. But you are right. There are people out there who are like that. They never bothered to read any materials about how things were planned to work.

Like the people read all about previous Chris Roberts games and were continually let down by habitual late releases and objectively terrible releases compared to the hype? Yeah, I'm with you there.

It is required, for Sir Knight TC wageth a holy war against the devilspawn known as "Chris Roberts", vilest of all demons, whose cruelty and greed know no bounds. For in the name of his savior and Lord Protector, the Holy Saint Braben, he shall relentlessly hound those disciples of the Evil Religion of Star Citizensism and convert them to the flawless, unerring light of the One True Game, Elite: Dangerous. Amen.

This looked good when it was 1st revealed last gen in 2012. Fast forward to 2015 and its not nearly as impressive and starting to look dated with no release in sight.

Didn't you know? All good games take five years and likely more to get made.

How backing $ much is a hornet?

Does it get you the game and unlimited insurance?

$110-155 depending on the game package

It comes with 6 month insurance, I am not aware of any ships that still come with life time insurance.

Right, LTI ships come around every now and again during sales for a couple bucks more than their usual counterparts.

yeah i knew occasionally sales with LTI came along, wasn't sure how often that happened or if they were going to be doing too many more of those.

No one really knows. If LTI is important to you, I would jump on any offer that comes available because it may be your only chance.

But honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about LTI. Chris Roberts has described it as "only a minor benefit". Or something like that (I'm paraphrasing).

Amazing. I got an infraction for cursing but TC can take a big ol deuce all over this thread and doesn't get anything.

Wow......

I haven't played this in a month or so, should probably see if they have really got the 300i variants in there.

Why is TC allowed to come into this thread and just dump all over SC? He barely has anything meaningful in all of his hate laced comments and he's been doing it for what, this whole thread?

You don't see people jumping into his ED thread and bashing that to hell and back?

We get it TC, you hate SC and Chris Roberts... enough is enough. Just leave the thread alone.

Edit - Well I was wrong, people are hating in the ED thread on ED so I guess it's give and take... nevermind, bash on!

If you have an issue with a poster, then report the posts. A warning was previously placed in the thread; off topic posts about other posters will no longer be tolerated.

Thank you.
