I hope so. It's been kind of a nuisance for a long time.

Horrible idea making you enter the ship through the rear anyway - eventually you'll have cargo back there or that big EMP generator.

I'm hoping they do direct cockpit entry when they redo the 300x as well. The whole gull-wing thing is slow and annoying.

They could so easily turn this into a modern F-Zero game. It's so close. I love my avenger in part because it reminds me of F-Zero.

I think racing could be a really fun mechanic in SC, but I'm hoping they get it away from these little run-the-rings courses.

I'm envisioning something more like large scale natural courses (say a canyon race) with defined course lanes that must be followed. That's the main thing I don't like about current racing - - a lot of it is just short-cutting through stuff from ring to ring, and I just don't find that kind of flying very fun.

I differ a bit. I love flying through the rings and I hope there are more courses designed around ring flying. But I like the idea of canyon racing too.

Thanks for posting that video. Takes a lot of practice to fly like that!

I'd rather see a variable density field (fully three dimensional and not just a thin "ring" setup) with a start and finish point and how you get there is up to you. The most direct ways could have more dense asteroids to force you to dodge, or the longer less dense ways where you can pick up speed but have to cover more ground. Variable sizes, even procedurally generated for every race would be nice. I want some decision, skill, and strategy about how I get to where I'm going, and not just the same layout every time. Finding a vein of loosely packed asteroids going in the direction of the indicator on my HUD would be pretty fun.

Is it time for the Ballers to join a multicrew ship or a Baller practice battle royal?

I'd be up for either, but as of 2.4 LIVE I'm stuck with infinite loading on Universe, and I've yet to be able to make it through an entire BR match without getting disconnected.

May need to wait for a few patch iterations for things to stabilize.

Finally. A brief look at some AI subsumption testing.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the level of interaction with the environment and variation of behaviors. For something still in testing - I think they're doing a great job.

Also....looks like the Dragonfly really is going to be a space-bike.

Looks like it folds into "compact mode," so hopefully you'll be able to throw a few in the Connie bay (please let this work). I want to roam planetside with it.

Also - here's hoping they make a racing class for spacebikes. ;) Yeah - I had a thing for the pod racer games.

I've had some weird lockups. Once was at CryAstro Repair.. the option to pay for services disappeared but I couldn't do anything in the UI. Eventually CTD'd.

Also had it CTD when trying to adjust the curve of my right joystick's yaw sensitivity. Just brninging up that specific option (all others worked fine) would cause it to CTD.

Haven't had the infinite loading screen once yet. crosses fingers

I liked the subsumption test video but one thing immediately struck me. Lack of deodorant. Look at how far apart everyone is from each other. Seems odd to me unless, of course, the vanduul have destroyed all supplies of deodorant.

its really interesting watching this trainwreck unfold in super slow motion...

Ok Derek. Not too smart are we?

You mean the game that's coming along just fine and within a normal development cycle for a game this size? The Frankfurt studio hasn't even been up and running for a year. A year!

What exactly about it is a trainwreck? GTA5 took longer to make and that was from an established company with a warchest of money and intimate knowledge of their game engine. Even if Star Citizen doesn't leave Beta (still in alpha) until 2018, it's still within the time frame that GTA5 and other similar games took.

CIG is a startup company. Only thing here is we have access to the early stages of development.

Judging a house that's only 30% done built against expectations of a finished house is a little bit.... illogical, right?

Uninformed gamer: Hey this house sucks! The bathroom doesn't even work.
Informed gamer: Well, considering this is a new house and the plumbing isn't even installed yet..

I waited after Reverse the Verse for the Dragonfly sale, but it took too long for the Dragonfly sale to appear, so I went to sleep.

Saturday morning 7 a.m. (my time), the sale was finally up, so I bought a Dragonfly with real money and also melted my Aurora LN game package and bought another Dragonfly. Also bought some $0 CCU from Aurora LN to Dragonfly and Black->Yellow and Yellow->Black Dragonfly CCUs.

Then I went to a 3-day hiking trip (in an area without mobile phone signal) and Monday at 8 p.m. when I returned home, I melted the second Dragonfly and bought the third one.

I intend to keep doing this as long as the Dragonfly sale lasts, to load up on LTI tokens, just in case I want them. And then buy-back my Aurora LN game package (I have one buy-back token). So I'll end up with Aurora LN game package and a Dragonfly (and I also already have all the CCU from Aurora LN/Dragonfly to 300i).

youre accusing a guy whose been here since 2006 with 10k posts of being derek smart? lmao. Goonfear™ is strong in you.

The hard part about being smart around you is you fail to understand most of what's going on and your ego forces you to pawn your confusion off on other people so you don't have to take responsibility for it.

Looks like (as per today's 10 FTC) procedural planets / Nyx are scheduled for the 2.7 release.

I hope they can make it. Looking forward to this as much as anything.

Pirate base is confirmed for 2.5.

Yup. If only I dropped $1000 on a video game I could be smart too. :'(

looks like a new FPS module or at least heavily updated fps mechanics in 2.6 as well

I hope it's a module - that seems to be what they're implying. It's way easier to test stuff in the AC modules.

No mention yet of when subsumption AI is supposed to make an appearance in the PU. I hope before long, but I have a feeling they're going to have to work out network LoDs first.
