I heard it's bugged in the 2.1 PTU with a 155m/s max speed which is awful. Connies were billed as being able to keep up with most fighters, so I feel like the single seat crowd is crying to hard for nerfs.

I hope the nerf crowd doesn't get their way. This ship needs speed to defend itself, at least from my experience in combat with it.

IMO these cargo vessels with big engines need to be fast, because with mass now affecting speed, they will be sitting ducks when loaded up with cargo if they're too slow to begin with.

I flew my M50 last night for awhile. Compared to all the other single-seaters, it seems to be the only ship that seems to actually fly like an agile dogfighter right now - so I was pleasantly surprised. I'm going to try to jump into BR with it tonight if I get the chance. I'm looking forward to 2.2 fixing a lot of these single-seater flight issues. I really miss flying my Gladius, but as of now it's completely useless and slides around like a drunk figure skater. My favorite combat ship from 1.2 and 1.3 definitely needs some love.

The mult-crew component of this game is really fun. I spent some time in 2.1 this evening - - shot up a message every time I spawned if anybody wanted to hitch a ride in my Freelancer to Kareah for some "co-op" FPS action. Always had a taker.

Bummer right now is every time I come out of quantum drive I'm stuck in max forward strafe, so I have to counter with reverse strafe to control it. Makes for a REALLY annoying landings.

Had a ton of fun though. I'm really looking forward to flying with some AT Ballers.

I'm thinking some awesome deep-space exploration missions in my Carrack with some AT friends. Great times await! :)

As soon as I can get the max strafe bug figured out, I think I'm going to go on a "Noodle" mission to Covalex in my 'Lancer. Maybe an AT Baller will be available to join...Grab! Eat! is waiting!

I have say again...this game is turning out to be off the charts. The sandbox aspect of essentially creating your own story / missions/ friends is just full of possibilities. 2016 is going to be an exciting year for SC.

Oh man I really want to try the muti crew aspect but so far I haven't been able too. I had to give up on my PTU access because my internet speed just doesn't make it feasible for me.

When I sign onto the regular live access I just run to a platform and wait for a big ship to be called up. I try and talk to the owner but so far no dice on actually getting on board. They either ignore me or I glitch out and it crashes...sigh...

I think you're right about 2016 being a very exciting year for SC. I think the accusations that cropped earlier this year gave CR a new vigor/focus and actually helped re-ignite his fire.

Yeah, once they get this server-side stuff straightened out it's going to be a lot better. And you're always welcome aboard my Connie. ;) We can go raid Covalex for some noodles!

Right before Xmas I moved to a new city/house so occasionally surfing the forums is about all I'll be getting into until I can get this new place in order. But once I'm settled I'd be happy to gun/pilot for some Ballers.

So this morning (about 4:00am...lol...there was rum involved) I got sick of dealing with the forward strafe bug. I spawned and shot out a message that anybody who wanted to pilot my Freelancer or a Connie could take the helm.

There was always somebody...and I just sat in co-pilot for the ride and had a great time meeting new friends going on random adventures.

That's what's so cool about this game...what other space sim can you do that? I just can't wait until we can actually land planet-side (Nyx will probably be the first, if the "Pupil to Planet" video is any indication), and finally get some NPCs into the action. I keep hearing about this awesome AI that Kythera has been working on that's supposed to be game-changing. I saw some of it in the "Pirate Swarm" mod (and it was pretty amazing....believe me, the regular VS is severely, intentionally gimped compared to what they can do), but I'm ready to check it out with some FPS NPCs.

Your AI comment has me worried! Right now I've only completed one comm array mission....and that was because security took care of the pirates while I just flew around avoiding their kamikaze runs at me as best I could. I still think the AI in Crusader is glitched. There is no way a pirate in an Aurora should be able to fly like that and make stops on a dime and accelerate in a completely different vector like that.

I'm not the greatest pilot in the world, but I can make it six/seven waves deep in VS...yet I can't seem to hit a single pirate in an Aurora.....something doesn't add up.

Regardless, my last five attempts to get into PTU 2.1 have been quickly met with the 'code 7' network bug. So I've given up trying to get in, for the most part.

But reflecting on what has already been released, I'm most impressed by CIG's attention to detail. Yes 2016 is going to be fun year for Star Citizen (and Squadron 42, I hope).

I wouldn't worry, rivet. I have a feeling that the kind of AI they used in Pirate Swarm will be present in high-danger areas and in limited quantity. According to the lore, teenagers used to venture into Vanduul territory to practice their piloting skills against the average Vanduul.

Sort of like VS now. The normal Vanduul is pretty easy to take down, and then they introduce a "boss" into the mix (like Little King / Warlord / Vixen) who have more advanced evasion / offensive capabilities. There are probably going to be some ace Vanduuls and NPC pirates that are far better than the rest.

I think this is pretty exciting. Kythera created some NPC attributes in Pirate Swarm that were a LOT like the top pilots in BR. I'd like to see that mod come back, but it seems like CIG wasn't very hip on supporting it.

Oh, I'm not too worried. In the PU, worse case scenario.....I hire some AT Ballers to escort my cargo haul.

That kind of brings up a good point. Right now, in any engagement, as long as the shields are up we can QD out of a fight.

I personally like this mechanic, even though it's taking a lot of heat on the CIG forums / Reddit.

This game isn't just about pew pew. I've gotten in several engagements now where after a rather lengthy battle, the other opponent or I have chosen that destruction isn't worth it, and QD'd out.

The fight was intense, there were a lot of blows on both sides, and eventually one of us said "I'm on the losing end of this, I'm out."

To me, that's just as satisfying as getting a "kill." I say keep it this way. Persistent lives mean something in this game, so preserving your character and your property has value. If someone / I wants to fight to the end, that only makes it that much more immersive. But if they / I decide that the confrontation isn't worth the life, then so be it, QD away.

Blowing up your opponent isn't "winning" in this game. I'm not out to blow up ships unless I'm shooting pirates and Vanduuls, so if we can both come out surviving, that's cool with me. There's been several times when I made the same decision, and getting out of a battle and making it in one piece to the repair station is way more fun than just blowing up and respawning.

One other major thing that (I believe) will change the dynamics of conflict within the PU: the price of fuel, ammo, etc.

It's easy to spray and pray when everything magically refills itself.......

But if there are financial consequences, the engagement decision isn't so automatic.

Like way back in Mechwarrior Mercenaries. Do I reeeaaaallly wanna throw an LRM20 salvo at everything I see?

The answer to that was always yes.

I suspect doing Cargo runs/Intel runs etc will become quite common to fill up the bank to buy all the ammo we will expend.

The dynamic nature of prices in the PU is going to make "grinding" for wealth accumulation interesting.

Ok guys.

$45 package.

Which one?

Mustang or Aurora?

Aurora is much tougher ATM, has a bed, and better hardpoints than the Alpha. The Aurora LN is the combat variant, and it looks like it's a $45 package.

That said, I prefer the alpha because it has an awesome cockpit view (best in the game) and it's faster and way more maneuverable. In other words it's more fun to fly, but the Aurora is pretty much better in all the other ways.

At any rate, I'm pretty sure you can CCU between the two for $0 so you might just pick one and try them both.

Yes, just choose one and if you don't like it, CCU to the other for $0 cost. And if you don't like that one.....just CCU back to the first one (again, $0 cost to you).

CIG gives you lots of options.

What resolutions/settings are you guys playing at?
How have you tweaked performance?

When I try to actually fly the training mission I get a slide show.

What kind of hardware do you have trying to run this? The game is decidedly "next generation", targeting Nvidia 980 GTX and similar level hardware. I can play it alright at 1920x1200 with a 670 GTX with a lot of things turned off (especially AA, etc). I've been waiting on the real next gen cards to come out before I upgrade (looking like July/August I might finally be making a new system).
