staples rebates problems w/ UPC copy -- did you have the same problem?

Hi,

I ordered a lot of stuff from staples w/ rebate offers in the past month. Today, for two products I rece. notices saying that they could not accept my submission becuase I did not send in the original UPC.

Thing is, in the rebate, I sent in a note saying that I called Staples asking whether it is okay to send in a COPY of the UPC to them and the original to the manufacturer. I wrote that the CSR told me it was okay.

I don't know why else this was denied.

Did any of you have the same problem? What do you suggest is the best way to approach this now?

give the guy a break and give him suggestions or at least try to be helpful!

amitamit, I suggest that the best way for you to seek help is to return to the same thread that the staples deals were posted and ask there. There should be other people who have similar problems there, and you can all go at it together as a group.

usually, if their is both manufacturer's rebate AND staple's rebate, u can send copy to staple's. but if there is ONLY staple's rebate, and the form says "original", then u must send the original

Any time i've had problems with Staples rebates I call on the phone, explain the problem, tell them i have copies of everything, and they just validate it over the phone.
My advice- call em tomorrow

Hi amitamit,

Staples will accept a copy of the UPC for a secondary rebate but Parago messes up some time. The best thing to do is to call the rebate center and talk to a rep. When you call, you have to listen to the recorded messages about your rebates then wait. After a long pause, you will get a message to talk to a rep. Be persistent, you will get the rebate.

i had used a copy of the upc for the handspring visor $50 staples rebate.

i had no problems.

i made a high quality copy and cut it out exact to size...it almost looked like the original.


maybe i got lucky.

I used a copy for my Staples $50 Handspring rebate. I made an ok copy and didn't bother to try to cut to size. I got my $50 rebate last week.

It depends on the whether the rebate is actually a manufacturer rebate.

it really depends on who processing your rebate. Some let go of it, some don't.
