It happen once to me when I send in the rebate for Linksys 4 ports USB hub. I called or email (don't remember) them up with the info they provide on the post card. A girl answered my call/email and got everything straight out. A sweet girl. 🙂

She told me sometime company hires outside vendor to do the rebates. Sometime other vendor's employee just grab one UPC from here and grad another receipt from there and make up their own rebate, so they can have rebate money for themself. And o'course we are the one who suffer. :|

I had problem with the rebate for a VTech cordless phone before. I had waited for over three months. Finally, I call that 800 number and left a voice message about my rebate information and fax a copy of my rebate form. 1 week later, I received the rebate. No bad, but waste my time.

This is pretty standard for mail-in rebates. They intentionally reject because people don't follow through. They know this as well as we do. I once had to send it 3 copies of rebate forms to US Robotics. They tried the same stunt, no serial #, even though my photocopy showed the serial # on the rebate form as plain as day. They the 2nd submission was "never received". Finally go the rebate 3rd time. It wasn't worth the $20 I got back, but I took it out on the people answering the phone.

But my favorite rebate story is the only other time I've let a rebate influence a buying decision. I bought a Best Data modem with a $20 mail in rebate. The rebate arrived without incident. Trouble is the modem, with a 90 day warranty, died about a week outside its warranty expiration, and the rebate arrived a few days later.
