I am surprised that this hasn't been posted yet.

Staples have the NEC LCD 1860nx 18.1" LCD monitor for $599. It rings up $40 less at $559.95. Apply the 12% Customer Appreciation coupon for an out-the-door-price of $492.77 plus any applicable sales tax. There is also a $60 MIR from Staples for a total cost (plus tax if any) of $432.77.

The monitor is from the same series as the LCD1760v. It has a 1280x1024 native resolution. The response time is the same as the 1760v but the contrast ration is slightly lower at 350:1. I at first thought this might be an issue but considering that I had to turn down the brightness on my two 1760vs this really isn't a real-world issue.

So far I am in love with this huge 18" panel that will in the end cost me less than $450.

Edited to add: This NEC LCD has both an analogue VGA and a DVI interface!

Good, fair price, but just not hot enough to make me switch from my 17" LCD that I paid $284 shipped (minus a potential $50 or $90 rebates waiting on!)

Actually, according to the NEC/Mitsubishi website, the 1860NX has a 30ms response time and the 1760V has a 16ms response time.

Hmm. This is correct. Wonder what I was looking at. Anyway, 30ms still isn't too bad. This might move the panel more into the great apps monitor/decent gaming monitor category rather than great all-around.

Oh well, still a decent 18? LCD panel for less than $450. Let's say, "warm deal" then.

Then still there are a bunch of people that did no testing, never saw the monitors and said the response times were under 10ms. :)

I just got this monitor from Dell S&P for $506. Very nice and slim monitor for its size. Using DVI input and it rocks. Crisp text and nice contrast.

However, do note that the monitor does not come with a DVI cable! :| Had to buy one from Amazon for $19. Basically the DVI cable offsets the savings.
