OK, 1st post, cut me a break if i screw something up.
(and sorry it's so long....but it's late, you know...)

Staples has the Kodak DC3200 digital camera for $199.
This is a decent entry-level digicam 1.0MP / 2x zoom / 1.6" LCD / w/2mb internal memory that can be expanded with compact flash cards of your choice. nice features and easy to use. i picked one up for my mother in law as a beginner's digicam.

PM with OD to make it $179 and there is a $50 MIR = $129.
That in itself is a nice price for a fairly decent digicam.
The MIR is only good until Feb. 10th.

Also from the Sunday flyer, and also until Feb. 10, Staples is offering a FREE scanner with any digicam purchase over $139. This offer is valid "in store only." I'm impressed. This is a pretty decent scanner. Microtek ScanMaker x6. 36-bit color / 600x1200 dpi. Cheapest price i found it for sale online was $55, with most places selling it for much more. One thing, the ad says it's a USB interface, and I just now noticed this is the Enhanced Parallel Port(EPP) version. I'm gonna call tomorrow and see if they have the USB version and try to swap(would anyone here know more on that?). I'd prefer the USB interface, but even if not i've got an extra port, and it's a nice scanner for free.

Camera SKU 446632
Scanner SKU 449699

i tried to use a coupon code for $30 off $150 but they said they couldn't let me double up the offers. but the flyer ad says free scanner with ANY digital camera purchase over $139, with ANY really in capital letters and bold ;)

if this is IN-STORE only deal, I don't think we can use the coupon ...

Here's what you can do. Go to your local Staples B&M. You can order it online, but pay at the register. That's when you can try to add the free scanner according to their add. If they give you any problems just show the manager the add and your purchase of the camera. Since you're paying at the store I don't think they'll be able to say too much. The customer is always right, just remember that.

Forcesho,

It was explained in another thread, but basically you go to the store and
they have a computer set up in their furniture area and you can order it
online and pay for it there at the store. I saw someone doing this the
other day and wondered what they were doing; the other post cleared that
up for me...

Their system makes no sense at all. Why would you want to go to the store and order on-line. That is stupid, "Absolutely nothing, you soooo stuuuupiiiid",UHF. If you are going to the store you buy at the store. If you want to buy on the internet, you buy on the internet. If you want to buy on the internet and pick it up at the store. You buy on the internet (from your home/work) and you pick it up at the store. Hopefully they are going to implement this on the main website much like BestBuy's system. But, I am uncertain if they are bright enough to do this. I mean this a place that gives you free shipping on orders over $50, you buy a CD-Rom drive and some staples. They send you the CD-ROM and the staples seperate but in the same size box. Do you really need that big of a box to send staples?

I know, sounds weird, but in this case, if you want to do the PM and
get the free scanner (valid "in store only"), then you might have to
use their computer in the store to do the PM AND get the scanner off
the ad. But then, if you have an OD nearby and they could just call
them and verify the price and you show them the "free scanner" ad, you
could do it that way. BTW, Walmart has the DC3200 for $178 if you don't
have an OD handy...

Please see the earlier threads.

Several of us who have recently purchased digital cameras online have been successful taking receipts to the local B & M and walk out with free scanners.

after talking with the Manager at my local Staples, he agreed they kind of screwed up the ad. Eventhough the ad says the free scanner is USB interface, they don't carry that version. even the SKU in the ad is for the parallel port version, but it clearly says USB interface. this morning he agreed to let me do an even swap with the Microtek Scanmaker x6 for a Visioneer 4400. Basically traded a free $50 scanner for a free $75 one. AND there is $60 worth of rebates available for the Visioneer good for purchases until Feb. 10.

definitely worth the time for this deal. once the rebates come in I will have gotten a Kodak 1.0MP digicam and USB scanner for about $75.

Damnit! Everyone is saying that they can't pricematch, because their 'after-rebate' price is cheaper than everyone elses.. How did you people get so lucky with pricematching this camera!? I'm gonna keep trying, but this is pissing me off! :)
