Standby Prob: Keyboard/Mouse Resume VERY Slow

Hi! I have a new T42 1.7GHz Dotham 512MB. Great machine, except it resumes from standby very slowly (and I use standby 15 times a day). My family also has an X31 and a R32 and R50, and all of them come out of standby much more quickly.

The problem is not that the screen is slow to appear on the T42. When I hit the button to come out of standby, I see the screen just as quickly on my T42 as on the other thinkpads. The difference is that the T42 takes an extra 5 seconds to allow me to use the mouse or keyboard. So I can only look at the screen, but I cannot type or use the mouse. What might be causing this?

I've noticed that BootVis says my resume time is 1.6 seconds, which is pretty good if I could actually use my keyboard or mouse after 1.6 seconds. BootVis does not seem to optimize for when I can use my keyboard and mouse, which is another 5 seconds later. What I don't understand is why the other thinkpads don't have this extra 5 seconds.

Thanks for your help!
