Standby mode Problem?

Ok i have a HP Pavilion 8655C and the keyboard has a option of standby. I hit standby and it goes into standby, monitor shuts off, HD turns off, Fans, ect.. Well the problem is when it is coming out of Standby mode. I would move te mouse and everything turns on perfectly, BUT, when i look at the screen and it turns on, the screen is black and looks like its frozen but with a blinking curser up on the left top. Like it doesnt know what todo. I would think that HP would put a feature that works, not one that is defective...would they 🙁

64 RAM
30 gig ultra DMA HD
Intel P3 533 MHz
- only 2 programs in system tray, DSL and AIM

Any thought to check would be nice, Thx in advance
