Title says it all; I have ACPI enabled; when I go into standby mode, my hd, ram, video, everything goes to sleep except for the power supply (which is the loudest part of the system it seems). Everything works fine regarding stand by mode and I have no problem resuming, but is there a way to have the power supply also powering off? My Power Supply is the Antec 300W PS that comes with the Antex SX1030 case. Thanks guys!

Depends on your hardware and settings in the bios. As I understand it, some machines can hold low power modes from the psu 5v standby, which is on whenever the psu is plugged in. Check the settings in the bios, try suspend to ram (str), and check the manual, it may/may not be helpful.

If I remember correctly the full standby off mode is hibernate... at least on my W2K system. No setting in W98?

To get the standby mode in Win98, you must have ACPI enabled in your bios; I know because when I disable it, Windows reloads a whole bunch of mobo drivers, and then the suspend function is just gone.

Jhhnn, you know exactly what I am asking for. I need help in determining if my system can do it. I am using a Tiger 133 motherboard (latest Revision B, which is newer than Rev. G), some Toshiba ECC PC100 RAM (with ECC disabled), and the Antec PS that comes with the SX1030 (300W, AMD Approved). Is there a way to tweak the bios/windows to have the PS go off? Thanks!

I truly wish that I could be of more help. Neither of my home systems will accomplish it. One is too old, and the vidcard in the other is incompatible. I've never even seen a decent article on the subject. All I can say is play with the bios, the worst thing that will happen is that it won't wake up and that you will have to clear the cmos to restore the defaults. Write down the settings/changes as you go along, otherwise you may not get back to the good thing you have very easily.

If anyone else can provide more info, particularly links, please do so. THANKS!
