I finally sprung for a projector, and since it supports 720p (1280x720) resolution, I would like to get a standalone HD tuner for it.

For inputs, the only HD inputs are two RGB 15 pin inputs. From reading this: http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/vgacable.html it is possible to convert a component video output to the RGB 15 pin input on my projector. From reading the manual, it says it supports YPbPr/RGB for 720p (also supports 1920x1080, but I'm after 720p as that is what all local broadcasts are in, and resizing hurts quality).

Any recommendations? Places to read for more information? I do not want to go with a PCI card, as my computer will not be near the projector most of the time.

I have a Samsung SIR-T45. It's oldskool but it works and has a QAM tuner and an RGB 15 pin output.

Thanks Shawn, from your model, I ended up settling on a Samsung SIR-TS160, it has satellite features and other stuff I do not need, but does have the RGB 15 pint output I was after. It got decent reviews, and I was able to get it for $70 shipped on ebay, used but with Non-DOA warranty.
