Standalone device to play music from for home theater?

Right now, I have all my music on my computer and I play everything from that.

Instead, I'd like to have a screen (touch screen?) that I can select what to play. Ideally, this would have storage space of its own, maybe 10GB or something (less is fine). It can run on its own and send an optical signal to my receiver.

Overall, I want to be able to play music without using my computer.

If there is something with two devices - maybe a wireless unit with a screen for selecting what I want, and another to actually store the data and transmit the audio, I'd be all over that.

Something like a squeezebox duet (wireless receiver with a color lcd screen, connection to online music sites) and a NAS network-attached-storage external hard drive could be what you are looking for.

Other people build small microatx media center pcs for this use.
