About a week ago my pc decided that i didn't need the stand by mode anymore. When i to go to stand by mode the hdds power down but the fans stay on . When every thing was working fine every thing in my pc powered down including the fans .
I've never had this problem before. So i flashed my Bios, reinstalled chipset drivers, updated video card drivers and mouse drivers.
Also got a different keyboard, scanned for viruses , scanned registry for any problems. And right about now i ran out of solutions and things to try .
The ACPI in bios is set to S1 and S3, APM disabled.Hibernation disabled.

My spec :
Amd x2 3800
A8n sli delux
2 gigs of ram
2x 6800gt
creative audigy 2zs
Logitech mx 700 cordless mouse

I've googled this problem and some people say that the fans stay on when in "stand by", which is not true at least for me because every pc i own powers everything down when in stand by.

Heres how it all started. Whenever i booted up the pc and pressed lets say the "show hidden icons" button or opened Firefox it would just keep opening new windows of firefox , with one click of a mouse i had like 30 new windows of firefox in a couple of seconds. I thought maybe my mouse got jammed or something so i went to Control Panel and it stopped . I didn't press anything , just went into the control panel screen. Ive reinstalled the mouse drivers ( logitech ) and thats when the stand by mode stopped working. I resolved the button jamming thing by replacing my keyboard . I also tried uninstalling the logitech drivers to see if that would fix the stand by problem , but no luck.
So my guess is it has something to do with the damn mouse drivers , or maybe the windows mouse driver . I really don't know what to do now , and having to turn off and on my pc a couple times a day just pisses me off.
Anyone had a similar problem??Any suggestions??

Multiple browser windows opening like that is genreally casued by a virus/malware/worm. Often its aquired by visiting an unsecure site. Most often it comes from porn sites. Run a few differnt virus and spaymware scans on your system. You may have a bunch of unwanted things stuck in your system. If the scans can't fix the problem you may be foreced to wipe and reinstall everything on your HDD.

Didn't the OP just say he re-formated and fixed the problem with a keyboard switch? Not sure on how to fix the stand-by issue though, what's wrong with stand-by with the fans spinning?

Ok fixed the problem. Changed the acpi from S1 & S3 to just S3 and now everything turns off. So proud of myself lol.
