Stand alone Firewall OS LINUX type.

I was told a while ago that there was a firewall program that was an OS LINUX type. Can someone point me in the right direction???

IPTables is the current firewall for Linux... There are probably distributions out there that are floppy based firewalls or built specifically for firewalling if thats what you mean...

Linux has kernel firewalling support in the form of iptables or ipchains (depending on the version and configuration).

If you come up with a "better" way to phrase the question, please post it. 🙂

I use a floppy distro called Dachstein LEAF Firewall. I like it very much. No need to waste a harddrive on a dedicated NAT(masquarading)/firewall machine. It also has a simplified http server for remote viewing of the configuration and firewall logs.

Easy to setup and floppy based. I have put mine on a hard drive to allow for more packages to be installed.

Works fine, but I am still learning about Linux based firewalls.
