what exactly are you paying for? just the convenience of printing your own stamps and stuff? are the package rates any better than just doing it yourself at the USPS site?

I don't think the rates are better, but you can't send media, parcel, 1st class etc. from usps site like you can from stamps.com.

Wondering the same thing - they've sent me the same junk mail a few times, offering me $25 in free postage, yadda yadda yadda - it's tempting, but I've almost eliminated any need for stamps in my life... ?

Should I just get my $25 and my free scale and call it a day or is there a catch?

Edit: Well the fine print is certainly interesting. Even though the printed crap they send in the mail pretty clearly indicates that I'll be getting "an $80 value" the fine print says that what I get BEFORE my trial is up is a $5 credit, and what I get AFTER the trial expires is the other "$75 value" ... no thanks. Dicks.

Some years ago, stamps.com saved me about $100 on an HP 930C inkjet printer. I forgot most of the specifics of the hot deal. Something about buying the printer and their $40 software and they issued a rebate for the price of the printer. Promptly threw the software away. Still use the printer. :)

I use stamps.com for all my shipping. Saves me a lot of time.

The only time I have to visit the PO is when I need to ship internationally. Keep in mind I spend about $300/month on postage.
