Stall on formatting hard drive

Hi all,

Things seem to just keep getting worse. I wrote yesterday about my Windows XP crashing after attempting to upgrade. I managed to back up everything I wanted though and said screw it let me just do a clean install.

So, I do a clean install and select to format my drive from XP setup. It's moving along and then I notice it seems to be taking really long at the 36% mark. It took about 10 minutes, but finally moved on to 37%. From there it probably took another 10 or 15 minutes to move on to 38% where it is sitting now and has been for the last 15 or 20 minutes.

So, now I'm worried. What do you think I should do. See if it will run its course or restart and try again?

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with my laptop and found my hard drive was currupt/bad. Format from the XP discs would hang around 20%. I replaced the drive and did a fresh install.

After my new install, I tried to get the files off my old drive, but I couldn't get my other computer to recognize it.

Had the same prob. when tryin to do a clean re-install of Win 2K. Removing all my pci cards solved the problem.

Also a friend of mine told me that XP only allows you to do one re-install, i'm not 100% sure if it's true or not, so don't take it to heart.
