i get pretty crappy frame rates in STALKER and i cant seem to figure out why? the reviews at bit tech say that even a 7900 can run it with all settings maxed, but i have to set mine to MEDIUM to be able to play comfortably, and my rig isnt the problem. any ideas or suggestions?

Ok, so your area doesn't have it. That doesn't mean it's the same for the rest of the US. Some people do legitimately have it.

People are so quick to scream piracy these days. How about helping the guy instead?

well, if i have to be honest here then...im the Cpt. Jack Sparrow of games.

I hope the 320 isnt holding me back...but i do have an evga stepup awaiting to cash in on. Hopefully theyll be price cuts in a month on a 640.

Some one on ocforums said turning off HDR netted him 40-60fps.

I personally don't care for HDR.

I fell in love with HDR when I played GRAW on Xbox 360 for the first time.

Something about looking through the sniper scope and having the lens flare just screamed realism at me. :)

I bought a GTX to play this game at 30 FPS? This game has been in development for half a decade, and for what? To struggle on the NEWEST GODDAMN card? So far, this game has been nothing but a disappointment for me.

Wow! I agree with you though, this game shouldn't be struggling on a GTX....wtf are the people with slower cards supposed to do?

What drivers are you running and what resolution? I'd also make a post on the developer's site and see if they acknowledge performance issues. I plan on getting Stalker eventually, but I heard the game was rushed for release the last few months (even though its been under development for 4-5 years), which to me, means unpolished.

To the OP: If you have a 2nd monitor, you can run RivaTuner and Task Manager and check to see what local/non-local videomemory usage is. Also check commit charge/pf usage etc. Sounds like its a driver/game engine problem though if a GTX is struggling to get 30fps.

97.92s and 1680x1050 rez. In other words, the latest official stuff... And no, I won't upgrade to the beta 100 series, because they screw up AA in Oblivion... :(

The game barely looks better than half-life 2, and you're expecting people with 7900s and X1900s to play it at medium? :disgust:

Well, I've read turning down the quality settings like textures and detail make the game look like mud, literally. When news of this game first broke....it was supposed to be the DX9 flagship title. That was like 4 years ago lol. Now it just looks mediocre, and having to turn down the settings to have it run acceptably would just be a massive failure, imo.

Can always go back to 97.92 to see if it is indeed the drivers. The 100 series cleared up a lot of bugs and some performance issues with the G80s, so its worth a shot. For Oblivion, the 100-series creates artifacts or disables AA+HDR simultaneously? First I've heard of the problem so idk.

Yeah, I already tried them. I had a thread which dealt with the Oblivion issues. I downgraded to 97.92s and it worked fine.

i cant run it at 1080p (my native res) at all...even with everything turned off...and sometimes textures dont load...it only seems to be working on 768 with lowered settings....

Running like a champ here!

All settings maxed.
1920x1080 with Rig in sig with XP SP2.

Few hiccups in the high 20's but running above 30+ 99% of the time.

I refuse to upgrade until the Oblivion issues are fixed. Because currently, I find that game much more fun and satisfying than this...

I wonder if it is the drivers...because the bit-tech review really seems to be saying the game ran fine with at high settings with a 7900gtx. It did say the 7600gt ran worse then a 6800gt though.

Also a guy on ocforums said he was getting solid framerates with his 8800gts 640mb so I'm wondering if he has a different driver then people here.

I wasn't screaming piracy. Don't draw conclusions. I was simply reinforcing the fact that it hadn't come out for retail sale everywhere yet because someone else was accusing the OP of piracy.
